What can you expect on your winter getaway?
Charming Towns and Villages:
The southwest is dotted with hundreds of amazing towns, cities, and villages. You can find St Ives in Cornwall, Exeter in Devon, Bath in Somerset, and Bournemouth in Dorset. All these places will be covered top to bottom in Christmas decorations. Whilst the Christmas lights of the city are truly wonderous it is also worth heading off the main trail and seeing what the villages and smaller towns can offer, these small towns and villages put an immense amount of effort into their events, and it is partnered with a brilliant sense of community.
Markets:
One of the main things the southwest is known for other than its stunning landscape is the food, and we will take any excuse to pull out a market. Throughout the Christmas period, you will find all kinds of markets all over the place, from the smallest village halls to the middle of busy cities. When you are in the southwest over the winter period you are never far from these markets, probably even within walking distance. You will not just find traditional foods here but an array of continental dishes.
Food is not the only thing on offer at the market stalls, a lot of independent small business owners also flock out to sell their items ranging from magic crystals to straw hats.
Festive Events:
Many events and festivities take place over the winter months from carol singing and pantomimes to Ice skating rings and light shows. There is always something going on to suit everyone's interests and tastes. Some key events include the Exeter Christmas Market, Bristol Christmas Market, Bath Christmas Market, and the Saltash Christmas Festival. There is no reason to be bored in the southwest.
A holiday in the southwest over the Christmas period is an unrivaled experience for the entire family.
In the 1920’s Britain saw the rise of the touring caravan, designed to be towed along by the motor car. This was brilliant as it meant holidays around the country were now more accessible to the average family. This innovation led to the idea of caravans being left on a particular site for longer periods of time, so people didn’t have to keep dragging this heavy, unaerodynamic trailer around with them whenever they went on holiday.
Individuals are given the opportunity to not only look and ask about caravans but also speak to park owners. This allows buyers to make an informed choice around the lifestyle they will lead for the next 10 -15 years.
The lifespan of a Static Caravan can vary, however, like with most things if it is looked after and properly maintained then you could expect the static caravan to reach up to 30 or more years on private land. Parks will generally ask for it to be upgraded around the 15-year mark to keep the park looking appealing and safe.
What is the ideal location? This varies from person to person, but it is important to consider what makes a holiday special to you, is it being near stunning coastlines like you might find in Tintagel or would you prefer to be surrounded by the countryside like you might find near Winkleigh. Luckily if you enjoy both these things then the Southwest has it covered. The sea and countryside are never more than a 30-minute drive away from each other.
