Everything that we buy today has evolved, become more personalised and with more options and choices. You can now buy cars such as a Mini that is completely bespoke to you, no other mini with the same options will ever be built, the world has evolved!

Purchasing a static caravan has also evolved and the range of optional extras seems to increase in both numbers, quality and variety every year. More of a standard optional extra than not now are PVCu double glazing and gas central heating and many customers ask why?

The traditional view of a static holiday home is that it was let during the summer months, possibly at the May bank holidays and if you were brave, the October half term and Easter breaks. Things have moved on, many holiday parks have significantly extended their opening periods to up to 11 months of the year and the caravans have evolved along side. Having optional extras like double glazing, central heating and underfloor insulation means that you can use your holiday home even in the coldest of months. That means more potential income for you if you sub let and more value for money!

Not only have caravans evolved in size and comfort, they have evolved with technology. Integrated Bluetooth sound systems, sockets with usb ports (now more standard than optional), tv points in all of the bedrooms, American style fridge freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers are all regular optional extras and in some cases, often come as standard. Caravans have evolved so that they are now a virtual home from home and have all of the luxuries and comforts that a modern home should have.

In some cases, the standard features can actually make your static holiday home a little more luxurious. For example, wine coolers are not particularly common place in the average home but they can be found in many new static caravans. You may even be able to get your own hot tub installed on your terraced area, caravans with hot tubs are very popular if you are planning to sub let!

Surf Bay Leisure offer a fantastic range of new static caravans and holiday homes with key features and optional extras listed for all models in the current range. Have a look through the latest selection and if you find an optional extra that isn’t catered for, we would love to hear from you!
