Our company was founded in 1905 when Ernie Taylor purchased a field by the sea at Westward Ho!, nr Bideford. Teenagers started to use the field for camping and being at the Western end of the village, it became know as ‘Taylor’s Western’, now Beachside Holiday Park. Faced with increased demand for holiday accommodation in the area, the Taylor family expanded by opening Surf Bay Holiday Park at the other end of Westward Ho! in the early 1960’s.

The park was also the site of the then fledgling Caravan Holiday Home distribution business. This part of the operation grew slowly over the years to include new and pre-owned holiday homes sales, to a point where more space was essential to progress. In 1989 a suitable 12-acre plot on the site of a disused airfield at Winkleigh in Devon was secured.

The re-location of the holiday home business, then trading as Surf Bay Caravans enabled the company to refurbish and repair holiday homes in the large workshop facility, and display one of the largest ranges of New caravan holiday homes in the country from leading manufacturers, Atlas, & Willerby. Offices to house administration, accounts and Aftersales were also built.

Along with the Winkleigh head office development, two regional Sales Centres with showgrounds were also introduced, located at Bridport in Dorset and Brean in Somerset, thus improving customer service and access to our product ranges.

In 2003 a further purchase of 10 acres of land, continued our expansion.

The Surf Bay Leisure of today grows with strength, including displays from our existing manufacturers Atlas, Willerby and new Caravan Holiday Home displays from BK & Swift. This extensive portfolio of manufacturers, together with an increased Sales & Support team.

We are also proud to announce our newest venture, Lodge Manufacturing, under the name of Devon Pine Lodges. Having produced Lodges for our own holiday parks since 2002 it has been a natural progression for us to move into manufacturing. Under the careful guidance and personal attention to detail of Michael Taylor, managing director, we work hard to ensure that the design and construction of our Lodges will be to the highest standards and to your exact specifications. The principal 2 Bedroom model, 'The Tamar Lodge' was just the start! Our range now consists of standard & bespoke Holiday or Amenity Lodges. 'Taylor made to suit you'.

All units are produced in our own workshop at our now 22-acre Sales Centre in Winkleigh, Devon and our design teams are on hand and keen to discuss any projects you may have in mind.
