We are all being encouraged to take more exercise and perhaps one option is to take up cycling either for the first time, or for the first time for a long time.

I see lots of mobile caravans and cars travelling along with one or more bicycles strapped onto a bike rack at the back of their vehicle, sometimes with flapping covers and spinning wheels. Another option however, might be to try out a fold-up bicycle! When I looked into this I was surprised at how relatively inexpensive they were .. £150 - £200. Not bad to fold up in the boot or store in your Holiday Home for the occasional trek along one of the growing net-work of cycle routes, especially around our beautiful coastline.

I know there are plenty of Bike Hire Centres around - but they can be quite expensive and you need to drive to them and then return the bike at the end of your cycle ride.  With your own bike you can go as far, and as often as you like.

Why not have a look and let me know if you decide to try one out.  I think the model in this picture would best suit me .... unfortunately I don't think this one folds!

Yes, that's the sort of bike I would need. But there are some lovely FLAT cycle rides around Devon and Cornwall. I've tried the Tarka Trail from Meeth to Instow very picturesque and the Granite Way from Okehampton Station to the Bearslake pub - nice refreshing beer garden before the return journey.
