Are you worried about your Carbon Footprint? Do you want to reduce it?
Well, how about taking your bike with you on Holiday (or hire locally) and try out some of the increasing number of off road routes to explore the lovely countryside and scenery around your Holiday Home. Perhaps you could make it a goal to try and complete one of the longer routes over several days, weeks (or even years in my case!).
Some friends of mine have come up with a great idea when they walk longer routes - that are not necessarily circular routes back to the car... They take their car to where they intend to end up and then catch a local bus to where they want to start. This way there is no rush to get to your destination by a given time - your car will be waiting for you whatever time you get back!
If you are stuck for ideas check out some of the local council websites for ideas and maps. eg Cornish Council there are some lovely routes listed here - "The Camel Trail"; "The First and Last Trail" or "The Coast and Clay Trail". There is even a Children's Activity Pack to download for the "Great Flat Lode Trail" with information and things to spot along the way.
Go on, get on your bike and give it a try! Even better, let us know how you get on or post some pictures on our Facebook page.
